
(1) In this Schedule, unless the contrary intention appears-
(a) "barcode direct tray" means a tray -
(i) containing articles all of which are addressed to addresses to which the same group of postcodes relate; and
(ii) the contents of which, have a mass greater than 4kg and not more than 16kg, or 300 or more articles.
(b) "CBD Sort Division" means a range of postcodes defined within the Print Post Sort Plan published by Australia Post from time to time.
(c) “delivery point identifier” means an eight-digit number which uniquely identifies a delivery point in Australia.
(d) “group of postcodes” means a number of postcodes that are treated as a single group for the purposes of a presorting plan published by Australia Post for the purpose of the arrangement of articles so as to facilitate their sorting for a particular service.
(e) “Large Postcode Direct (LPD)” means more than 300 articles or 4kg of article weight all addressed for delivery within one postcode or CBD Sort Division.
(f) "residue" -
(i) for the PreSort Service means a tray that contains barcoded letters all of which are addressed to addresses that are not within the same group of postcodes but are otherwise prepared in accordance with the requirements for the PreSort Service
(ii) for the Print Post Service means articles that are not prepared as Large Postcode Direct or Small Postcode Direct but otherwise prepared in accordance with the requirements for the Print Post Service.
(g) “Small Post Direct (SPD)” means articles addressed for delivery within one postcode or CBD Sort Division which observes the following minimums:
| (i) | Small Articles | 20 articles |
| (ii) | Large Articles up to 125g | 15 articles |
| (iii) | Large Articles over 125g up to 500g | 10 articles |
| (iv) | Articles over 500g up to 1kg | 5 articles |
(h) “Unbarcoded” for the PreSort Service means a tray that contains unbarcoded letters, all of which are prepared in accordance with the requirements for the PreSort Service.
(2) Words used in the Schedule shall, unless the contrary intention appears, have the meaning ascribed thereto in the Australia Post Terms and Conditions and the Australian Postal Corporation Act 1989.
(3) In this Schedule, unless the contrary intention appears-
(a) where a rate of postage, other charge or fee is shown as applying to a lodgment the size of which is represented by two figures separated by a dash - the rate or fee applies to any quantity of articles lodged by one person at one time that is equal in number to the first or second figure or greater than the first and less than the second;
(b) where a rate of postage, other charge or fee is shown as applying to an article or lodgment, the mass of which is represented by two numbers of grams or kilograms separated by a dash - the rate or fee applies to any article or lodgment, as the case requires, that is equal in mass to the first or second mass so represented or is greater than the first and less than the second;
(c) where a rate of postage, other charge or fee -
(i) is shown as applying to a range of masses of articles or lodgments that is expressed in grams or kilograms; or
(ii) is payable accordingly to the number of grams, kilograms or units of a specified mass in an article or lodgment,
an article or lodgment the mass of which is not exactly divisible by a gram, kilogram or specified unit, as the case requires, shall be treated, for the purpose of that rate or fee as if its mass were increased to the next greater mass that is so divisible;
(d) where rates of postage, other charges or fees are tabulated, they apply to articles, lodgments and services set out opposite them and in the headings of the columns in which the rates or fees appear;
(e) a reference to local delivery is a reference to delivery of an article -
(i) that, in respect of the bulk local delivery service for letters, the local delivery service for parcels, and the Print Post Service has been lodged at an office in a postcode specified in Table 1 and is -
(A) for delivery to a post office box, locked bag or private mail bag at, or by counter mail delivery, street mail delivery or contractor roadside mail delivery from, that office; or
(B) for delivery to a post office box, locked bag or private mail bag at, or by counter mail delivery from, a second office that is within the street mail delivery area of the first office,
and, for the purpose of that reference, lodgment at an office means lodgment at a counter at that office (or, where that office does not have counter lodgment facilities, at a counter of an alternative office designated by the Commercial Manager of that State for the purpose) or in a private mail bag or community bag that is brought to that office or delivery to a mail contractor or postal delivery officer, who is required, in the course of his/her duties, to hand in articles so delivered at that office; or
(ii) that has been lodged at a mail centre for delivery to the sorting divisions (ie. groups of postcodes) nominated as eligible for the Local Sort Division rate in accordance with the presorting plan for the Print Post service published by Australia Post from time to time.

(f) "domestic carriage" includes articles carried by post between Australia and the external territories including Norfolk Island and between Australia and a ship of the Royal Australian Navy, wherever situated, provided that where such a ship is outside Australia, articles from the ship are sent by closed despatch either through an overseas postal administration or by Department of Defence personnel;
(g) for the purpose of calculating rates of postage and other charges for articles carried by post between a ship of the Royal Australian Navy and Australia -
(i) an article shall be deemed to have been lodged in the postcode areas of Sydney 2890 or Perth 6958; and
(ii) an article shall be deemed to have been delivered in the postcode area indicated in the address given by the sender;
(h) the symbols "NSW", "VIC", "QLD", "SA", "WA", "TAS", "NT" and "ACT" respectively refer to New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory;
(i) where a rate in respect of an international service is fixed by reference to a zone, the rate applies to carriage to an overseas country in accordance with Item 45 Table 37;
(j) where a reference is made to the lodgment of an article that lodgment shall, as the case requires, include a reference to the acceptance or collection of the article.
