Australia Post is well known for its strong relationship with the Australian community. This relationship is strengthened through our support of community activities, including sponsorship of sporting organisations and the arts.
Our sponsorship policy recognises that, as a commercial enterprise, we must view each sponsorship proposal in terms of the potential to generate business for Australia Post.
Definitions
The following definitions may help distinguish between sponsorship and other similar activities.
Sponsorship is:
- Support for an individual, organisation, team, event or program in return for the right to use that individual, organisation, team, event or program to promote a corporation's name, image, product and services.
Sponsorship is not:
- A donation (in cash or kind) for which little or no commercial return is expected
- Hospitality, which is defined as the provision of entertainment, food and beverages for existing and potential clients in expectation of commercial return. (Where hospitality is included in a sponsorship package together with other benefits such as signage or acknowledgment on literature, it is defined as part of that sponsorship).
- programs that support political or religious organisations, denigrate, exclude or offend minority community groups, create environmental hazards, uphold principles of respect that are different from those we apply to our own people.
Sponsorship Policy
Australia Post will sponsor national, regional and local events and activities and organisations which offer opportunities to market Australia Post’s products and services, or to communicate key messages and themes.
Australia Post’s sponsorship program will seek to achieve a balance between community, environmental, sporting, educational, research and arts/cultural events and activities.
Sponsorship is support for an individual, organisation, team, event or program in return for the right to use that individual, organisation, team, event or program to promote a corporation’s name, image, product and services.
Priority is given to sponsorships that recognise and uphold general community values, and in general, relate to:
- direct business enhancement
- image improvement
- community benefit
